                    ABOUT DR. SIGNE

Signe A. Dayhoff, Ph.D., M.A., M.Ed., is a social psychologist with post-graduate training in counseling who received her doctorate from Boston University. There she studied ways to improve interpersonal communication and body language and enhance social effectiveness in one's personal and work life.

For 27+ years she has been a consultant, coach, educator, trainer, author, and speaker specializing in increasing self-presentation confidence, personal marketing, emotional intelligence, people skills, and social effectiveness.

She has published a monthly e-zine called the Master Social Effectiveness—Speak Without Fear Now Tips since 1999. A member of International Coach Federation and International Association of Coaches, she coaches internationally.

Over the last several years, Dr. Signe also has been exploring the science of creating happier, healthier, more engaged, purposeful, meaningful, and fulfilled lives through individuals connecting with their strengths. As a result, she completed training with Dr. Martin E.P. Seligman, who is the former president of the American Psychological Association and author of a number of books, including Learned Optimism, The Optimistic Child, and Authentic Happiness. She is a Certified Authentic Happiness Coaching Coach.

Currently she is president of Effectiveness-Plus LLC, an interpersonal effectiveness skills-development firm - "mastering social effectiveness through people skills." It provides services and products to skyrocket conversational confidence, forge self-presentation skills, conquer speaking in public, and explode personal promotional opportunities through verbal communication and people skills.

She is a certified administrator and interpreter of the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) and coaches people how to manage their emotions to enhance thinking, facilitate problem solving, and influence how others think, feel, and act.

Prior to Effectiveness-Plus, for ten years she was president of The Mentoring Network, which provided mentoring, consulting, and training in non-traditional career development techniques with an emphasis on people skills and personal marketing. As a result of her doctoral research and work, she chaired the Task Force on Mentoring for the American Psychological Association and designed a mentoring program for the headquarters of The American Red Cross.

She also has taught psychology at Boston University, University of Massachusetts, and Framingham State College and has done research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, and Fairview State Hospital. She has presented the findings of her own research on interpersonal communication, transforming social anxiety into social effectiveness, and mentoring and networking nationally.

Her latest book, the new and improved 2nd Ed. of Diagonally-Parked in a Parallel Universe: Working Through Social Anxiety (2010), is the social phobic's bible and insider's scoop. Based upon years of research with sufferers and consultation with the pre-eminent clinical researchers in the field, it provides education, treatment, and life-rebuilding strategies.

Notables, such as Dr. Albert Ellis, have praised the book, the 1st Ed. of which was consistently ranked among the ten best-selling anxiety books on Amazon.com.
