                    ABOUT US

Signe A. Dayhoff, Ph.D., M.A., M.Ed., is a social psychologist with post-graduate training in counseling who received her doctorate from Boston University. There she studied ways to enhance social effectiveness in personal and work life.

For 20+ years she has been a consultant, coach, educator, trainer, author, and speaker specializing in increasing self-presentation confidence, personal marketing. work-life balance, and social effectiveness.

She is affectionately known as the "Social Effectiveness Guru" and has published a monthly e-zine called the Social Effectiveness Guru's Tips since 1999. A member of International Coach Federation and International Association of Coaches, she coaches internationally.

Over the last several years, Dr. Signe also has been exploring the science of creating happier, healthier, more engaged, purposeful, meaningful, and fulfilled lives through individuals connecting with their strengths. As a result, she completed training with Dr. Martin E.P. Seligman, who is the former president of the American Psychological Association and author of a number of books, including Learned Optimism, The Optimistic Child, and Authentic Happiness. She is a Certified Graduate of Authentic Happiness Coaching.

Currently she is president of Effectiveness-Plus LLC, an interpersonal effectiveness skills-development firm - "transforming self-presentation anxiety into social effectiveness." It provides services and products to skyrocket conversational confidence, master self-presentation skills, conquer speaking in public, develop personal and work relationships, and explode personal promotional opportunities.

She is a certified administrator and interpreter of the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT).

Prior to Effectiveness-Plus, for ten years she was president of The Mentoring Network, which provided mentoring, consulting, and training in non-traditional career development with an emphasis on interpersonal skills and personal marketing. As a result of her doctoral research and work, she chaired the Task Force on Mentoring for the American Psychological Association and designed a mentoring program for the headquarters of The American Red Cross.

She also has taught psychology at Boston University, University of Massachusetts, and Framingham State College and has done research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, and Fairview State Hospital. She has presented the findings of her own research on social anxiety, interpersonal effectiveness, and mentoring and networking nationally.

Her latest book, Diagonally-Parked in a Parallel Universe: Working Through Social Anxiety, the socially-anxious person's bible and insider's scoop, is based upon several years of research with sufferers and 22 years as a social phobic herself. Released in 2000, it consistently ranks among the ten best-selling anxiety books on Amazon.com where it has garnered over 160 positive reviews and praise from notables such as Dr. Albert Ellis.

Author of four other books: How to Win in a Tough Job Market: Successful Strategies for Getting the Job You Want; Create Your Own Career Opportunities; Get the Job You Want: Successful Strategies For Selling Yourself in the Job Market; and Decision Making For Managers, she also contributed to David Riklan's 101 Great Ways to Improve Your Life (Vol. 2) and Steven J. Bennett's Executive Chess: Creative Problem Solving By 45 of America's Top Business Leaders and Thinkers
